What Is Search Engine Optimization


Search Engine Optimization (or SEO) is commonly referred as the activity of optimizing Web pages or whole sites in order to make them more search engine-friendly, thus getting higher positions in search results.

There are two distinct facets of SEO, the first one, usually described as On Page Optimization, involves fine-tuning specific pages to improve the relevance score of that page for targeted keywords. The second facet of SEO is called Off Page Optimization and involves increasing the popularity and importance of specific pages through building relevant and targeted links from other websites to your own.

What is the Difference Between On Page and Off Page Optimization?

Off Page Optimization involves building relevant links to your website from a diverse array of websites that are high ranked by search engines. As a result, your website becomes more trusted and inherits a valuable SEO ranking factor known as domain authority or hub status. This authority allows each page on your site to rank higher for the targeted phrases the page is optimized for.

Off Page Optimization often known as link building, increases the relevance of your website through co-citation and peer review (otherwise known as link popularity). This popularity translates into domain authority and higher rankings in search engines for the keywords the pages are optimized for.

Search engine optimization helps you to target specific keywords to deliver qualified visitors to predetermined pages. By synchronizing On Page and Off-page Optimization, SEO can increase your traffic and improve target efficiency for your pages.
